1982 - graduated from the Mozhaysky Red Banner Order holding Military Engineering Academy getting the mechanical engineer diploma with the space vehicles major;
1995 - graduated from the Dzerzhinsky Military Academy, specialization - engineer-economist.
OCCUPATION BEFORE JOINING COSMONAUT CORPS:
from June 25, 1982 – an engineer of military unit 93764;
from September 13, 1982 – an engineer, from November 18, 1986 – a senior engineer of the 31-st ground at the Baikonur launching site;
from January 9, 1987 – an assistant for the chief engineer, from April 19, 1993 – a chief engineer, from August 31, 1994 – a commander of group No.1382 of the military representative office at the Energy RSC.
DATE OF ENROLLMENT IN COSMONAUT CORPS (GROUP NUMBER, DATE):
February 9, 1996 - by the State Interdepartmental Board decision recommended for the enrollment in the cosmonauts corps of the Space Rocket Military Forces (the twelfth additional group);
May 1996 – assigned for the position of cosmonaut-tester candidate of The Central Test and Control office, Golitsino-2 settlement;
1998 – assigned for the position of cosmonaut-tester of The Central Test and Control office for the Space Rocket Military Forces;
September 2, 1998 – by the Defence Ministry order transferred to the cosmonauts corps of the Yu. Gagarin Cosmonaut training center to a cosmonaut-tester position (flight-engineer)and changed The Space Rocket Military Forces for the Air Force.
February 24, 1998 - by the State Interdepartmental Board decision assigned for the position of cosmonaut-tester of the backup crew of the 26 primary expedition on Mir Orbital Station, but did not embark on training because of the health problems.
May 12, 1998 – replaced by Kotov Oleg.
From October, 1998 – on increment specific training in the framework of the ISS program.
SPACE FLIFGT PERFORMED:
October 14 – October 42, 2004 – the flight engineer of the 7-th visiting expedition on the ISS. Launched aboard the Soyuz TMA-5 spacecraft together with Sharipov S.Sh. (a vehicle commander) and Leroy Chiao (a flight engineer, US). Flight duration: 9 days 21 hours.
