BACK-UP ACTIVITY:
October, 1978 – May, 1980 – a commander
of the back-up crew for the 1st test flight of the Soyuz-T spacecraft
together with O. Makarov;
June, 1980 – back-up to the Soyuz T-2
spacecraft commander Yu. Malyshev;
September 7, 1981 – June 10, 1982 – a
commander of the Soviet-French back-up crew together with V. Soloviev and
P. Bodri ( France );
June 24, 1982 – back-up to the Soyuz T-6
spacecraft commander V. Dzhanibekov;
June-September, 1982 – commander of the
Soyuz T-10-1 spacecraft back-up crew together with V. Soloviev.

SPACEFLIGHTS PERFORMED:
The 1st flight – November 27 – December
10, 1980, as a crew commander of the Soyuz T-3 spacecraft and the
Salyut-6 long-term orbital station together with O. Makarov and G. Strekalov.
During the flight the station thermal control system was repaired. Flight
duration: 12 days 19 hours 07 minutes 42 seconds. Call sign: “Mayak-1”.
The 2nd flight – February 8 – October 4,
1984, as a commander of the Soyuz
T-10 spacecraft and the Salyut-7 long-term orbital station (together with
V. Soloviev and O. Atkov) on the program of the Prime Expedition 3. During
the flight he performed 6 EVAs of 22 hours 50 minutes in total in order
to repair fuel lines of the station. Flight duration: 236
days 22 hours 49 minutes. Call sign: “Mayak-1”.
The 3rd flight – March 13 –
July 16, 1986, as a commander of the
Soyuz T-15 spacecraft together with V. Soloviev. During the flight world’s
first flight from one orbital station (“Mir”) to the other (“Salyut”) and
back was performed. The cosmonauts activated basic module of “Mir” long-term
orbital station and performed 2 EVA operations from the Salyut-7 of 8 hours
50 minutes in total with the purpose to deploy and test the extensible
truss. Flight duration: 125 days 00 hours 00 minutes 56 seconds.

sign: “Mayak-1”.
DISCHARGE FROM COSMONAUT CORPS: 1987
- is discharged from the cosmonaut corps because of entrance to the
USSR Armed Forces General Staff Military Academy.
